Piller offers a kinetic energy storage option which gives the designer the chance to save space and maximise power density per unit. With a POWERBRIDGE™, stored energy levels are certain and there is no environmental disposal issue to manage in the future. Importantly, a POWERBRIDGE™ will absorb energy at the same rate as it can dissipate. That means the POWERBRIDGE™ can stabilise a diesel engine and that frequency stability under dynamic load conditions cannot be matched by any other kinetic storage solution. A vertically mounted flywheel and generator utilising magnetic bearing technology, the POWERBRIDGE™ is available in a number of sizes for different power ratings and ride-through autonomy.
Battery-Free Solutions
Piller is a market leader of kinetic energy storage ranging up to 60MJ+ per unit. The Piller POWERBRIDGE™ storage systems have unique design techniques employed to provide high energy content with low losses. These energy stores can be configured singularly or in parallel with a variety of Piller UPS units to facilitate a wide range of power-time combinations.
The POWERBRIDGE™ is a highly compact, efficient and practical replacement for conventional batteries. The unit can deliver power above 3MW and provide 1MW of electrical power for over 60 seconds. This extraordinary achievement with very low losses and a minimal maintenance.
