Piller UB-V Electrically Coupled UPS now available for pan-industry power protection solutions

Scalable, sustainable power for multiple industrial sectors across health, digital, manufacturing, aviation, broadcast, comms, defence, energy, renewables, research and more

Piller’s advanced UB-V Series (UB-V) Electrically Coupled UPS (EC UPS) range for use in every industrial application provides protection and sustainability at scale, suitable for every type of deployment such as securing power at large scale industrial and manufacturing sites, oil and gas, airports and healthcare environments.

Wherever critical infrastructure and machines need continuous power, UPS deployments must address the challenges and issues associated with load changes, harmonic isolation, ambient conditions and power wastage. The Piller UB-V Series is built on the renowned reliability of the UNIBLOCK ™ family and incorporates the latest advances in highly flexible and reliable electrically coupled UPS systems.

Piller’s UB-V power ratings range from 1.0MW / 1.10MVA to 3.24MW / 3.60MVA and paralleling up to 100MW / 115MVA. It provides efficiency of up to 98% at 100% load and an unbeatable 97% at 50% load.

The UB-V UPS comes with low and medium voltage options. It has a wide input tolerance (-50% without calling on energy storage) and wide leading and lagging load factor range. Energy storage options include Li-Ion battery and kinetic. Large single unit options avoids the need for multiple paralleling, saving space, lowering maintenance and improving reliability.

In digital manufacturing environments such as semiconductor production the UB-V is ideal for silicon chip factories and other clean manufacturing environments.

In traditional manufacturing Piller UPS systems are configured to precise manufacturing specifications, ensuring continuous clean power to keep systems running in any power-adverse conditions. They are equally suited for use in harsh environments such as Oil & Gas, Aluminium, Cement, Petrochemicals and textiles, sterile environments, pharmaceutical and food production.

When it comes to protecting lives, Piller’s UB-V can meet the intricate challenges presented by the healthcare sector and their design, configuration and internal structure have patient safety, and protection of data and vital equipment’ as foremost considerations. UB-V can be installed for vaccine manufacture, hospitals and other critical health system data infrastructure.

In line with the energy industry’s drive to adopt renewable power sources and greater distribution efficiency, Piller’s flexible UB-V UPS technology is designed to efficiently manage power fluctuations and adapt to changing stabilisation requirements. It was designed for bi-directional power flow feeding power back to the grid and is suitable for ride-through in micro and smart grid applications as well as co-generation power conditioning; suitable for deployment in green energy production and biomass plants, smart grid development, reserve power capability and renewable power sources.

In the Telecommunications and broadcasting sectors, mobile and fixed telephone service providers use Piller technology to power their global networks. From inter-connected backbone networks across entire continents to end point delivery infrastructure for the newest 5G networks, Piller is a trusted partner. Piller technology is widely used by national broadcasters, tier 1 global telecoms carriers, national and international mobile network operators, fibre companies and metropolitan network providers.

A new concept in Service

UB-V is supported by Piller’s Unity Service Pack, a brand-new service concept providing up to 5 years of continuous UPS operation based on full insight into machine behaviour and performance – without the need to take the UPS offline.

The Service Pack utilises secure connectivity using Pillerlink which connects UPS components. Settings, configurations & operational data captured and stored on an internal database. Self-diagnostics enable predictive maintenance. The Piller’s predictive maintenance service with remote monitoring means years of operation with minimal on-site maintenance visits. In controlled environments system shut-downs can be further reduced to around once every five years.
