Runway lighting UPS replaced after 27 years
Piller Power Systems has updated the runway lighting power protection system at Düsseldorf Airport with its latest high efficiency UPS technology.
Piller installed the original runway lighting UPS in 1997, ensuring the safety of hundreds of thousands of aircraft takeoffs and landings, transporting millions of people departing and returning on their travels for almost three decades.
But although the equipment would have gone on providing reliable service for many more years to come, the original system is being retired and replaced with a new generation of Piller technology that provides higher efficiency and much reduced power consumption.
The original system is being replaced with a new generation of Piller sustainable UNIBLOCK UBT+ UPS with POWERBRIDGE kinetic energy storage.
