Talk to Piller about powering UK data centre national critical infrastructure

Piller UK Ltd – Cirencester – 2nd September 2024.

The UK’s Data Centre sector received a boost this week when the Government designated data centres as critical national infrastructure alongside the NHS, water and energy. This is welcome news for this vital sector.

It will also throw down some challenges to large data centre developers and operators to ensure they can secure access to power. This is going to be a big topic of discussion at DCD London Connect on September 17th and 18th.

As the DC sector moves into the AI era it will needs hundreds of MWs of power at single sites. It must address the power issue and ask: “if power is not available through the Grid (it isn’t) then where is it to be found?”

In a recent article Piller asked: Where will the global tech titans find enough clean power for their hyperscale AI data centers?

We wrote: “AI data centers and microgrids will exist together in partnership. Piller, as part of Langley Holdings Power Solutions division has the technology components for power generation. storage and delivery that match the scale requirement across hyperscale AI data centers and commercial colocation AI developments.”

As an energy infrastructure provider Piller knows the challenges of power provision to critical infrastructure especially where power demand is rising, and the grid is constrained.

We believe that on-site power through hybrid microgrids will play a major role in the future of data centres (as it already does in many other sectors.)

Piller and its Power Solutions Partners are at DCD London Connect at Stand 31. Come and speak to us about where the power is for the new generation of UK national critical infrastructure data centres.
